Mission

NAKS is an organization that promotes social and cultural awareness in relation to sustainable development of the Surinamese people in general, and especially of the Afro Surinamese people.
The work of NAKS contributes to the cultural consciousness of the Afro Surinamese people to feel proud to promote their own culture and roots with dignity.
NAKS works in partnership with the Surinamese government and national and international social and cultural organizations. NAKS is an innovative, flexible and professional organization that provides outstanding cultural products and services.

Vision

We strive to contribute to a country where every citizen feels proud of his own culture, where all diverse ethnic groups respect and value each other’s cultures, and where everybody can experience their culture in a free and open way.

Goal

The statutory goal of NAKS is: to serve the social, cultural, physical and spiritual interests of the (Afro) Surinamese community in the broadest sense of the term.

Thanks to the loyal members who always support the organization on a voluntary basis, NAKS was able to continue its work until now. Some members support the organization with daily activities, some with planning and management, some as advisors. Others have emigrated but still continue to help from abroad. Some of these ‘stonfutu’ have passed away already.
